Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. was born on 24 December 1905 and died on 5 April 1976. Howard was an American aviator, engineer, industrialist, film producer and director, and one of the wealthiest people in the world. By the late 1950s Howard had developed debilitating symptoms of social avoidance behavior and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The Aviator (2004), directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard focuses primarily on Hughes’ achievements in aviation, in the movies, and on the increasing handicaps imposed on him by his obsessive-compulsive behavior.

Howard Hughes being one of the richest man in history Howard Hughes had always been lost in dreams, most of them being born from movies or figments of imagination. Howard seemed to dislike or even fear all that was too real, although his career in aviation would prove otherwise. Howard was but a mystery, when all the fame was directed towards him he would hide in the darkest of places, for he would not like other people. As he got older everything seemed like an enemy to him, he would not touch anything without gloves or tissue to protect his hands from what he saw as bacteria and disease. Then he would contradict his excess of sanity by barely eating and taking too much medecine. Howard was one of the richest man yet he was ill, and suffered from tourettes.
